OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Kiwanis is applying for a state brownfield grant to clean up its 415 Mansion St. property, formerly known as the Augsbury tank farm site.
The Department of Environmental Conservation is taking public comment on the application through May 8. It can be reviewed at the Ogdensburg Public Library, 312 Washington St.
The site description filed with the DEC says it was used for bulk petroleum sales and storage starting around 1962. It was developed in the 1890s and from then until the 1940s, was a lumber yard, machine shop, door, sash and blind factory and a coal yard.
Oil storage started around 1949, according to the DEC.
It is now vacant.
