OGDENSBURG -- The St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund awarded Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Richard E. Winter Cancer Center a $10,000 grant recently.
The grant represents a portion of the proceeds from the most recent Edward I. Moses Walk/Run for Life, which is held each spring.
For many years, the Cancer Fund has donated funds to Claxton-Hepburn that are used for cancer prevention, education, free screenings, outreach, and treatment.
During the past three years, the grant funds have been used to provide 700 free colonoscopies to uninsured individuals.
This year’s grant will be used to fund 10 free colonoscopies and 40 free lung cancer screenings using low-dose CT scanning.
For more information about the free colon and lung cancer screenings, contact the center at 713-5251.
