OGDENSBURG -- November 11-17 marked what Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center calls “Perioperative Nurses Week” and they took the time to recognize nurses in its surgical services department.
Perioperative nurses work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and surgical technologists. They perform preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
“Their job goes beyond the regular workday assuring excellent patient care all the time,” a press release from CHMC said. “Perioperative nursing is a nursing specialty that works with patients who are having operative or other invasive procedures.”
