OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City Council has accepted a proposal from NORESCO to perform an energy audit to determine a potential cost savings in upgrading streetlights.
The audit will be performed at no cost should the city agree to follow through with the project, however it includes a $25,000 blackout fee that would be applied for the work should the city not move forward with project afterward.
NORESCO is one of the largest energy services companies in the United States. Its customers include federal government agencies, universities, state and local governments, school districts, hospitals, and industrial and commercial businesses.
Details on potential cost savings for the city were not provided in the resolution.
The audit is among the city’s latest efforts to reduce operational costs as it continues to struggle financially.
