OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg GreenMarket Saturday market and the Food Bank of Central New York will offer a $2 coupon for every $5 spent by EBT customers.
Beginning Saturday, June 8 customers who make a minimum EBT token purchase of $5 will receive a “Health Bucks” coupon for $2, with a maximum of four coupons per customer, per day.
The coupons can be used to purchase locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables from designated farmers markets only. They are not redeemable at supermarkets, grocery stores or roadside stands.
This program is in addition to a previous incentive program from Fresh Connect that gives an extra $0.50 worth of tokens for each $1 swiped on an EBT card. EBT shoppers will also receive an additional $20 for visiting the market five times or more as part of the program.
The market features fresh spring salad greens, spinach, asparagus, rhubarb, green garlic, fresh eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, pork, beef, home baked pies, breads, jellies, cupcakes, biscotti, whoopie pies, maple syrup, American Doll clothes, baskets, jewelry, wine and herbs. A large selection of vegetable plants will also be available.
The GreenMarket also now accepts debit cards, EBT food stamps, WIC and senior coupons.
The Ogdensburg GreenMarket is open Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Library Park and Thursdays at Claxton-Heburn Medical Center on the corner of King Street and Mansion Avenue 2 pm to 5 pm.
