Ogdensburg, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence Central, Heuvelton students sweep OFA Key Club Talent Show

OGDENSBURG -- Performers from Gouverneur, Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence Central and Heuvelton dominated the Ogdensburg Free Academy annual spring student talent show Thursday, May 28, at John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

The OFA Key Club show featured 19 singers, dancers and even hula hoop performers from schools across St. Lawrence County in elementary, middle school and high school categories.

Winners included:

High School Division:

• 1st place Ninth grader Ben Foster of Gouverneur Central School who played piano and sang “Thinking Out Loud.”

• 2nd place 10th grade keyboard player Ryan McNally and 8th grade drummer Nathan McNally of Ogdensburg who played an original composition written and sang by Ryan.

• 3rd place Shawna Gambill, a ninth grader from St. Lawrence Central who sang “Put Your Records.”

Middle School Division

• 1st place Gerard Powers, a seventh grader from OFA who sang and played piano “Just the Way You Are”

• 2nd place Allison Latimer, a seventh grader from OFA,who danced

• 3rd place Sydney Morley, a seventh grader from OFA who sang “You’re Not Innocent.”

Elementary Division

• 1st place Jaelyn Stevens, a fifth grader from Gouverneur who sang “All of Me.”

• 2nd place Delia Hooper, a third grader from Ogdensburg who sang “Reflections.”

• 3rd place MacKenzie Spicer, a sixth grader from Ogdensburg who sang “Terrible Things.”

For two decades the Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club has provided one of the North Country top performances venues for student performers to demonstrate their abilities.

“Our Ogdensburg show has helped many talented young people from communities across the North Country launch their careers,” said OFA Key Club President Jordan Snyder.

“At a when many performance based arts programs are facing cutbacks, our student run Key Club offers Northern New York’s most talented young people a friendly welcoming venue where they can gain experience on stage, confidence in their performance skills and an opportunity to gain credibility in their field,” Snyder said.

The Key Club has scheduled a fall talent show.
