Ogdensburg Garden Club seeking members for its friends organization

OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Garden Club is looking for 2019 Friends of the Garden Club.

“Friends” are individuals who support the aims and goals of the Garden Club.

Friends are not required to attend our monthly meetings or work in the many gardens maintained by the club unless they wish to do so.

They are invited to special programs and to attend planned trips before the general public is invited.

We have some very interesting programs planned for 2019. A “Chair”ity Fundraiser is scheduled for May 3, 2019, and will be the first of its kind in Ogdensburg.

The Ogdensburg Garden Club is a federated non-profit organization and is a member of the State Federation of Garden Clubs. The Club is dedicated to creating and promoting interest in horticulture, gardening, floral arranging, landscape design and conservation.

The club has monthly program meetings, projects in civic beautification, garden therapy at nursing homes, garden tours, flower shows, craft sales, and educational programs for both children and adults. The club also works with the Youth Garden Club at the Eva Caten Educational Center at the Remington Museum.

A minimum financial contribution of $25 per year designates an individual as a “Friend of the Garden Club”. Checks can be made payable to Ogdensburg Garden Club and sent to the club P.O. Box 1414, Ogdensburg, NY, 13669.

Friends are accepted at any time but to have your name included in the club’s yearbook, we need to hear from you by January 15, 2019. Any questions may be directed to President Darlene Liscum at 315-276-0301.

The Club also asks anyone who may be interested in becoming an active member of the club to also contact Mrs. Liscum. Prospective members are encouraged to attend two meetings before joining the club.

Expectation of active membership is meeting attendance, participation in projects and service on committees including working in at least one of the city’s gardens.
