OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Education Association (OEA) hosted a free dinner for the community Wednesday, May 17, at the Ogdensburg Knights of Columbus banquet hall.

Two-hundred people, of all ages, were in attendance to share in a barbecue chicken dinner prepared by the Knights. This was the fourth such event that the OEA has hosted.

The theme was “Play Safe” and shared information about how to be safe while playing outside, such as wearing helmets, sunscreen, and staying hydrated.

Attendees were invited to participate in several free raffles featuring Cannondale Helmets from Crow’s Bike Shop and other outdoor accessories. The OEA also gave away brand new books through First Book, a NYSUT (New York State United Teachers) endorsed program where teachers, in eligible districts, receive new books at low to no cost for their students.

Additionally, tote bags, water bottles, crayons, and bubbles provided by the OEA through The People Project grant were free for all who attended.

The OEA plans to host more community dinners during the 2017-2018 school year.
