OGDENSBURG – City councilors are marketing several properties they hope to get back on the tax rolls.
City Assessor Bruce Green identified 29 properties owned by the city that he suggested go to auction with varying minimum bids.
Prices went as low as $1 for the former Newberrys and Desperados building, with a requirement that the buyer include a proposed plan for remediation. The list topped out at the Former Newells Manufacturing Building at $128,000.
The city is also hoping to sell half of a house that contains two apartments for $10,000. The other half of the home is owned privately.
City manager John Pinkerton said staff worked to determine minimum bids that were likely to move the properties. However, city council adjusted some of the proposed prices down.
