OGDENSBURG – City councilors will hold three public hearings at 7 p.m., today, Nov. 24 at City Hall.
The hearings include a potential property sale, a tax cap override and an amendment to a proposed tree law.
The city is considering the sale of a 25' x 100' vacant lot located at 1328 Ford Street for $1,200.
The property is appraised at $1,000.
The city will also consider overriding the state’s 2 percent property tax cap. Although it is unclear if the budget will exceed the limit, comptroller Phil Cosmo told the board it would be prudent to pass the override incase of a potential calculation error that could otherwise put the city at financial risk.
A third hearing will decide who is responsible for maintaining trees in city right of ways.
The board has been divided over a new law that could make the city responsible for trees that are planted in city right of ways between sidewalks and homes.
