OGDENSBURG -- At a public meeting Monday, Ogdensburg City Council tabled a resolution that would alter the spring, fall and summer yard waste cleanup schedule.

The proposed change would reduce summer pickup to just one time. The pickup would be held just before the annual Seaway Festival which takes place during the last full week of July.

Property owners will be allowed to place their yard waste out for pickup two weeks before the festival, but no later than the Sunday prior to the commencement of the festival.

Under the proposed change spring collection will begin on May 1 of each year and run though the week leading up to Memorial Day. The last day to place material out for pickup is the second to last Sunday in May. There would be no penalties for putting out yard waste early during the cleanup cycle.

The proposal would have the fall cleanup start during the last full week of October, but no later than November.

At the Monday meeting the council agreed to hold a workshop prior to voting on the resolution. A date for that meeting has not yet been set.
