OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg Code Enforcement office has issued 314 violation letters and completed 806 inspections since January.
City Councilor David Price was pleased with the report. At the Monday city council meeting he said the report shows Ogdensburg residents that the office has been busy and productive.
At a previous council meeting Price said he’d like to see more information about the office’s work to become publicly available.
The vast majority of orders to remedy and violation letters were related to grass, unregistered vehicle, garbage and debris issues.
According to the report 106 letters were issued for weed and grass related violations, while 76 were issued to address garbage and debris.
The office also sent 66 violation letters for unregistered vehicles.
Another significant problem addressed by the code officer was work being performed without permits. According to the report 41 orders to remedy were issued regarding the lack of permits.
Additional letters were also sent out for unsafe structures, sidewalk maintenance, home occupation and parking regulations.
The numbers in the report do not include re-inspections or unwritten field inspections, which are complaints resolved onsite or follow the number of follow-up visits to ensure compliance.
