OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg City School District approved final requests for projected Northeast Regional Information Center (NERIC) services for the 2017-18 school year at Monday's Board of Education meeting.
Notable services provided by NERIC include internet access, Microsoft licensing, telecommunications, testing and Schooltool, which is a web-based student management system.
The contractual agreements are classified as BOCES Cooperative Services (CoSers) relating to instructional technology and computer service-management.
The initial amounts and invoices are calculated based on presently available information and will be adjusted based on actual services mid-year.
Currently, the total initial amount is $157,454.64, which is over a $7,000 increase from the contract amount for the 2016-17 school year.
Data from the last three months of 2016 indicates that the district is utilizing an average of 42 percent of purchased internet bandwidth.
NERIC is one of 12 Regional Information Centers (RICs) within New York state and provides technology services to over 137 school districts through partnerships with seven BOCES.
