Ogdensburg city council to entertain four presentations, host public hearing Monday

OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg City Council will host four presentations Monday at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Seven city employees will be recognized for their service on Monday. Those to be recognized include two members of the code enforcement department, two department of public works employees and three members of the Ogdensburg City Police Department.

City Historian Julie Madlin will discuss the ongoing QR code project, which allows people to use their smart phones to scan codes at various historic sites and receive information related to the locations.

Scott Wright will speak to the council regarding bike lanes and the city’s complete streets program. Wright is a member of the Active Living Task Force.

City Planner Andrea Smith will also present. Star Carter of the Development Agency of the North Country will accompany Smith. The presentation will be focused on Geographic Information Systems. The technology is used by some North Country municipalities to map sewer and a water lines.

City council will also host a public hearing regarding a change to the procedures of city council meetings. The change allows for public comment at both the beginning and the end of the meeting.

Currently the code only allows for personal appearances at the beginning of meetings. The city has been experimenting with the policy on a trial bases for several months.
