OGDENSBURG – A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged with felony drug counts and is in jail without bail after a search warrant for an Ogdensburg apartment was executed early Thursday.

Police also say they found a 15-year-old who had been brought from North Carolina to help sell crack.

Joseph A. Peterkin, 32, who also goes by the name “Drama,” has been charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for alleged sales of crack cocaine in Ogdensburg, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Class B felonies.

A second individual, Sarah C. Guild, 24, who rents the residence, was charged on a Theresa Town Court Warrant for an unanswered traffic offense, and turned over to New York State Police. She was arraigned in Theresa Town Court, and sent to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on $750 cash bail or $1,500 bond.

Peterkin and Guild have been under investigation for their role in crack cocaine distribution in Ogdensburg, and into a crack cocaine distribution ring from North Carolina.

Peterkin was also charged on an outstanding New York State parole warrant, for allegedly absconding from parole for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Peterkin was arraigned in Ogdensburg City Court, and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.

The Ogdensburg Police Department and its Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and agencies from the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at 309 Montgomery St.

Inside the apartment, officers discovered a small quantity of crack cocaine in the possession of Joseph Peterkin.

“However, the most disturbing discovery made by police, was a fifteen year old child, who had been brought to the residence, from North Carolina, for the purposes of assisting in crack cocaine sales,” said the news release from Ogdensburg police.

“This young individual was in the State of New York, unbeknownst to their parental guardians, who discovered them missing on Wednesday morning,” the statement said.

The youngster was transferred to the custody of the St. Lawrence County Social Services Department, pending arrangements return home.

Ogdensburg Detective Daniel Mousaw said the investigation into the drug distribution continues, and now includes the taking of a child across state lines to traffic drugs.

Agencies involved in the raid include the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, including the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, the Gouverneur Police Department, and the Potsdam Police Department.
