OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority’s $26 million international airport expansion project recently won the statewide “Project of the Year” award from the New York Aviation Management Association (NYAMA).
The project, entitled "Roadmap for Airport Transformation," was selected by NYAMA for the Phil Brito Memorial Project of the Year Award.
“This is a project that everyone involved can be proud of. MJ and our partner Fennick McCredie Architecture worked closely with the airport and the OBPA to develop a terminal that fit the needs of the North Country including a beautiful, efficient, and fully functional space that welcomes visitors to the Thousand Islands Region,” said McFarland Johnson (MJ) Senior Vice President Chad Nixon, also the principal in charge of the development project.
Bridge and Port Authority Board Chairman Samuel J. LaMacchia shares the optimism that “The future has just begun at OGS. This project has a vision that is just beginning.”
“It is an honor that Ogdensburg International Airport was selected as the statewide project of the year” said OBPA Executive Director Wade A. Davis.
"For the airport to be recognized as the Project of the Year for the state is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team that made this possible; from the elected and agency officials that made the funding possible, the Authority’s Board of Directors and Staff, the engineer, the designer, the contractors, and the individual men and women who worked on the airport expansion project; this is a success story that will benefit North Country residents for many years to come.”
