OGDENSBURG –The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority has adopted a new two-year agreement with union longshoremen.
The authority approved the union-ratified Longshoremen’s Labor Agreements with Local 217A and the National Labor Agreement with the Great Lakes District Council-Atlantic Coast District. The term of the agreement is January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.
“This two-year agreement is a fair labor agreement reflecting the needs of the Port of Ogdensburg” said Authority Executive Director Wade A. Davis. “Our stevedores provide superior quality service at a very competitive price. I anticipate all parties will benefit from the labor agreements as we continue to grow port operations”.
Key elements of the labor agreements include a 0% increase in wages for 2011/12 and a 1.7% increase on ship handling costs. It caps health insurance, and creates a Joint Training Fund as part of the local agreement. There are about 50 members of the ILA Local 217A.
