OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education approved a request from the Ogdensburg Public Library to seek an additional $75,000 from district taxpayers through a Library Referendum Proposition during the upcoming school budget vote in May.
A library referendum requesting $50,000 was approved by taxpayers during last year’s school budget vote and is considered an annual appropriation, meaning the total will rise to $125,000 if the new referendum is also approved.
New York State Education Law requires that school districts place properly submitted library funding proposals on ballots to be decided by voters.
The school budget vote will take place on Tuesday, May 15. A public budget hearing for presentation of the 2018-19 budget will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 7 at Ogdensburg Free Academy.
