Ogdensburg-based state police trooper Craig Thronhill receives a plaque from Major Charles Guess, after being named a Trooper of the Year.
OGDENSBURG -- An Ogdensburg-based state police officer was recently named Trooper Of the Year for Troop B Zone 2.
Craig S. Thornhill has been with the state police since May 8, 2006.
Major Charles Guess, who leads the state police region that includes St. Lawrence County, said Thornhill is highly motivated and routinely provides assistance to other members of the Ogdensburg state police.
From Sept. 1, 2014 to Aug. 31, 2015 Thornhill made 216 vehicle and traffic law arrests, which included six driving while intoxicated tickets. Thornhill also made 53 penal arrests including 14 felonies, 30 misdemeanors and nine violations.
Aside from his record, Thornhill also serves as a field training officer, defensive tactics instructor and Taser instructor.
“Despite having a significant amount of special assignment time training new recruits at the academy, he still maintains a high-level of productivity, typically leading his station in all aspects of enforcement,” Guess said.
