OGDENSBURG -- The City of Ogdensburg has been awarded a $400,000 grant that will help homeowners rehabilitate their properties.
The funding came through the New York State Community Development Block Grant (NYS CDBG) Program, as part of the 2014 Competitive Housing Round.
Ogdensburg’s program will provide funding for roofing, window replacement, painting and siding, along with energy conservation measures including insulation, new furnaces, and new hot water heaters for eligible households within the target area.
While the announcement was just received Monday by the City, officials are ready to hit the ground running to kick-off this program.
“This program will fund rehabilitation projects for single family owner-occupied homes within the defined New York Avenue target area which includes one block east and west of New York Avenue,” City Manger John Pinkerton said.
This the grant follows the City’s 2012 CDBG project that assisted similar owner-occupied homes in the Ford Street target area, according to Smith.
“Like the 2012 CDBG, the City will be partnering with the Development Authority of the North Country to administer this program here in Ogdensburg,” Smith says in the release.
“The Authority is pleased to be partnering again with the City of Ogdensburg on its Community Development Block Grant Program targeting qualified owner-occupied houses along New York Avenue. These funds will provide assistance to improve the condition of housing stock in this targeted neighborhood,” James Wright, Executive Director of the Authority said.
