OGDENSBURG -- The City of Ogdensburg in partnership with the Fort La Présentation Association is seeking requests for proposal for a feasibility of a Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) at Lighthouse Point.

“The VIC would emphasize the site’s history as a historic French colonial outpost and connections to the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812. In order to assess the feasibility of providing such a facility, the City is soliciting proposals from an experienced Consultant or Consultant team,” according to a release from City Planner Andrea Smith.

The Consultant must have recent experience performing similar tourism related feasibility studies for not-for-profit or municipal clients. NYS certified Woman and Minority - Owned Business Enterprises are particularly encouraged to respond to this RFP.

The Fort La Présentation Visitors Center Feasibility Study project is supported by grant #T1000541 through funding provided by the New York State Department of State under Title 11 of the Environmental Protection Fund and contributions from the Fort la Présentation Association.

The purpose of the study is to assess the feasibility of developing a VIC adjacent to the site of the historic Fort de la Présentation on Lighthouse Point. The feasibility assessment will include a market assessment for a heritage tourism site, potential educational themes, programming options; and, funding options for the type of facility envisioned.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) is available through the City’s website, http://ogdensburg.org/ or by contacting Ms. Smith directly through the Planning Department, asmith@ogdensburg.org. Sealed proposals must be received by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 at the City’s Department of Planning and Development located at 330 Ford Street, Room 11, Ogdensburg, New York, 13669.

Proposals received after that time will not be accepted. Proposals shall be sealed in a package clearly marked with the proposer’s name and “Proposal for Visitor Interpretive Center Feasibility Study 2017.”
