OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Area Zonta Club hosted a ‘Free the Girls’ 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, June 7, on the Maple City Trail in Ogdensburg.
The 5K Walk/Run was a bra drive for Zonta to collect bras that will be donated to women rescued from sex trafficking jobs. Second-hand clothing is a profitable market in many countries around the world. Bras are usually sought after items. Girls can make three to five times the minimum wage in their community by selling bras. Ogdensburg Area Zonta Club, a member of Zonta International, empowers women through service and advocacy.
