Officials with Potsdam and Ogdensburg farmers' markets are encouraging people do their holiday shopping with them.
For Thanksgiving meals, shoppers can purchase pesticide-free produce. Fresh baked goods, including gluten-free options, are offered for breads and desserts. Eggs, hormone-free raised meat, local wine and maple products are also available.
Farmers markets also offer an alternative to Black Friday, what they are calling "Local Saturday." Items for sale will include wreaths, garland and centerpieces.
The Potsdam Farmers’ Market is every Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, in the front lobby of Cheel Arena on the Clarkson University campus.
This market will continue throughout the winter months and into early spring.
The Ogdensburg Farmers’ Market is at the First Presbyterian Church, 423 Ford St., on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, they offer a free community lunch to their visitors. This market closes for the season on Dec. 14.
