Office holders in St. Lawrence County and local governments on the ballot today

Today, Election Day, voters in St. Lawrence County will have until polls close at 9 p.m. to help choose from among candidates in local races, county coroners, and county legislators.

Information on local candidates can be found at http://northcountrynow.com/election-2014

No U.S senators are on the ballot in New York today, but every seat in Congress in the country is up for grabs, including the attention-getting contest in the North Country's 21 Congressional District, which has drawn national interest as a seat that might well revert to Republican Party control after five years in Democratic hands.

In that race, Republican Elise Stefanik polls ahead of Democrat Aaron Woolf, both first-time candidates.

Woolf is still campaigning today, with appearances at Canton's Black Bird Café, 107 Main St. in Canton at 12:15, at the Potsdam campaign office at 38 Market St. at 1 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Center Mall in Massena before returning to Elizabethtown to watch the returns come in.

Stefanik is staying close to home today, with appearances in Clinton and Essex counties before watching returns tonight in Glens Falls.

All state senators and assembly members are also up for election today, as well as the statewide offices of governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller and attorney general.

If you're not sure where to vote, or if you're not sure you're registered, the state Board of Elections has a web page where you can find out, at https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/votersearch.aspx.
