Two recent polls indicate Democratic Congressman Bill Owens is leading slightly against GOP challenger Matt Doheny in the race for the new 21st Congressional seat.
Last week, Republicans pointed to polling that indicates the race for NY21 is a "toss-up."
But the latest New York Times rating at elections.nytimes.com/2012/ratings/house says the district "leaning Democratic" and The Cook Political Report at cookpolitical.com/charts/house/competitive_2012-08-02_15-31-01.php this month also listed the 21st as "leaning Democratic."
Last month, the Washington, D.C. publication The Hill at thehill.com/video/in-the-news/237173-mapped-the-hills-house-race-ratings rated the 21st Congressional District as "leaning Democratic."
Owens, a businessman and lawyer from Plattsburgh, and Doheny, a businessman and lawyer from the Watertown area, are facing off in a rematch that Owens won two years ago as a third candidate, Tea Party favorite Doug Hoffman of Lake Placid, is presumed to have drawn some votes away from Doheny.
