Warmer and more humid weather is expected today as strong sunshine produces highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s before a cold front moves across the St. Lawrence Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The cold front will bring possible showers and thunderstorms tonight and Saturday afternoon with more seasonable and drier conditions anticipated Sunday through Tuesday, NWS says.
Todays high could reach 92, with a heat index value of 96, the service says. The record high temp for Aug. 5 in St. Lawrence County of 95 degrees took place in 1950, according to Weather Underground.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 1 a.m., then showers likely and a possible thunderstorm between 1 and 4 a.m.
NWS says the overnight low will be near 69 with winds of 7 to 10 mph and gusts of 23 mph.
Saturday will see a 30 percent chance of rain and a high around 81 degrees, the service says. The overnight low will be about 59.
Sunday is expected to be sunny with a high neat 80 and an overnight low of 57.
The NWS forecast through the middle of next week is as follows:

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Light and variable wind.
Sunday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Light southwest wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
