A weak weather weather system is bringing light snowfall to parts of the North Country and will continue with accumulations expected to be light but creating slippery driving conditions, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.
Today’s high will be near 37 with southwest winds of 10 mph and gusts as high as 21 mph, NWS says.
Tonight there is a 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 1 a.m. with a low around 30 degrees. New snow accumulation is expected to be less than half an inch.
Additional snow showers are in the forecast for Thursday into Friday as colder air begins to moves in to the region, NWS says. Significant snow accumulations are possible in parts of Northern New York.
There is a chance of snow showers before noon on Thursday then changing to possible rain and snow showers. Skies will be partly sunny with highs near 36.
Snow is likely Thursday night with the possibility of one to two inches of fresh white powder. The low overnight will be around 25 with wind gusts as high as 25 mph.
The weekend is expected to be seasonably cold with scattered snow showers each day, the service says.

A chance of snow showers before noon, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 36. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Thursday Night
Snow showers likely, mainly between 10pm and 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Friday
A 40 percent chance of snow showers before 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 28. West wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light west after midnight.

Partly sunny, with a high near 22. West wind 3 to 8 mph.
