Forecast: 1-3 inches of snow today expected in St. Lawrence County; rain and snow showers likely Christmas Eve

An upper level disturbance will move across the area today bringing light snow to the region and a mix of light rain and light snow in the larger valleys, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Overall, the North Country is looking at 1 to 3 inches of snow today before tapering off tonight. Highs will be near 35 degrees, the service says.

High pressure builds in on Friday for dry weather and above normal temperatures. The high for Friday will be near 38 with partly sunny skies. Friday night will see lows near 29 and about a half inch of snow possible.

Another upper level disturbance moves into the region Christmas Eve for a 70 percent chance of light rain and light snow, NWS says.

Dry weather is expected for Christmas Day with a high near 30.

The forecast through the middle of next week is as follows:

Friday

Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph.

Friday Night

A 30 percent chance of light snow after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday

Rain and snow likely before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 37. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday Night

A 30 percent chance of light snow before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Christmas Day

Mostly sunny, with a high near 30. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

Sunday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northeast wind around 6 mph.

Snow showers likely before 3pm, then rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. East wind 7 to 13 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
