Norwood woman wins $10,000 prize in NYSARC raffle

CANTON -- A Norwood woman has won the $10,000 grand prize in St. Lawrence NYSARC’s annual raffle.

Dayna Bellardini of Norwood won the 36th annual fundraiser for SLNYSARC, a private, non-profit organization committed to maximizing the potential of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The agency sold 3,831 certificates for a gross profit of $32,785.

Proceeds from this raffle support the purchase of technology to enhance education options for people with disabilities.

Anthony Soluri of Ogdensburg won second prize, a weeklong getaway to Lake Ozonia, a $2,050 value, donated by Denice and David Button of Canton.

Mindy Woodruff of Canton won sapphire and diamond pendant and necklace, a $1,750 value, donated by Peets Jewelers, Massena.

Angel Young of Madrid won the fourth prize, a “stay and play” package at Best Western, a $710 value, donated by Best Western University Inn, Canton

Judy Haer, Potsdam, won the fifth prize, an iPad Air, a $599 value. donated by Advanced Business Systems, Watertown.

The drawing was held on the Canton Village Green Saturday, conducted by Canton Town Supervisor David Button.

Daphne Pickert, CEO/Executive Director of St. Lawrence NYSARC, expressed appreciation for support of the fund raiser. “For 36 years, the community, our staff members and loyal contributors have come together to further our work on behalf of people with developmental disabilities," Pickert said. "We are grateful for this show of support and excited to use the funds for educational technology that will benefit over 750 local people."

An “Early Bird Drawing” was held in May. Melanie LaVack of Gouverneur won the prize, a circle pendant on a chain valued at over $1,000, donated by Greg and Brenda Carbino.
