NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series has announced that blues artist Shemekia Copeland will perform during the 44th annual season of the series on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.
Copeland has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and received many other musical accolades.
Aside from releasing eight full-length albums, Copeland has performed with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Carlos Santana and many others.
The City of Chicago and State of Illinois declared Copeland to be "The New Queen of the Blues" at the 2011 Chicago Blues Festival.
Copeland has also been very involved with various social causes and performed at the White House in 2012.
Village Green Concert Series Program Director Joseph Liotta stated that he has seen Copeland perform twice and "came away amazed and inspired" both times.
The Norwood Village Green Concert Series is supported in part by NYSCA, a state agency, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature.
