NORWOOD – The Norwood Village Board of Trustees meets Monday for the annual budget hearings.
The hearing begins at 5:30 p.m., half an hour before the regular board meeting on the third Monday of the month.
Mayor Timothy Levison said the board could decide to act on the budget after the hearing.
He said the board worked out a budget for 2016-17 with a slight increase, “but below the state-mandated tax cap.”
The increases were due to things such as equipment replacement and wage increases. The budget includes annual pay for the mayor of $3,976 and $2,272 for each trustee.
The tentative budget is available for inspection at the village offices during business hours.
Levison said the final budget amount is dependent “on two variables: what CHIPS money (state highway funds) and sales tax revenue” would be available. For the hearing Monday, he said “we can ballpark it.”
He also said he expects he and the trustees elected last Tuesday would probably be sworn in at the Monday meeting.
He and three trustees, Michael Zagrobelny, Michael DiVincenzo, and Kristian Nezezon, were all unopposed and received 50 or fewer votes each in light turnout.
