Norwood receives $10,000 for new police equipment

NORWOOD -- The Village of Norwood has received a $10,000 grant from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for equipment for the Norwood Police Department.

Norwood Mayor James McFaddin said the funds would result in kore safety, efficiency and morale for officers of the department.

Police Chief Jay Harris said the protective vests, new computers, fax machine-copier and other electronic items will improve safety and efficiency. He added that for the first time police officers will have all new uniforms.

State Criminal Justice Program Representative Paul Chesley was in Norwood Tuesday to instruct the mayor and other village officials on administration of the grant. He also visited the police station to inspect equipment.
