NORWOOD -- The K-Kids of Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School raised more than $300 for the family of Joanne Bigwarfe at its "Dress as your Favorite Book Character," fundraiser, held May 22.

Bigwarfe, 43, was a Potsdam resident who worked at Norwood-Norfolk for six years, serving two as elementary principal. She died Tuesday after a battle with cancer. Proceeds from the fundraiser will assist the family with expenses related to her medical care.

Norwood-Norfolk school will close Monday as faculty, staff, administration, parents, children, and community mourn her death.

A middle school academic awards night for students in grades 7 and 8 that was scheduled for Monday, has been postponed until Tuesday, June 12, at 6 p.m.
