The Northern Zone Association for Counselors and Development Humanities Project Program (NZACDHPP) has donated to the Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School K-Kids fundraising group to support the purchase of a “buddy bench” for their playground.
Student advisors Lee Mittelstaedt and Carrie French said they appreciate the donation from the Northern Zone.
In 2013, a Pennsylvania elementary school student started the idea of “buddy benches” to provide a place for students to sit and socialize. Other schools have since adopted the idea.
“The buddy bench is a simple idea to help eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. It is a special bench with a special purpose,” said a press release from NZACDHPP.
