NORWOOD -- Norwood-Norfolk Central School has set June 13 as the date for their special election to determine which elected board member will receive a three-year seat and who receives a one-year seat.
The special election was the result of a tie for third and fourth place in the Board of Election vote on May 16.
The election, according to NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank, will take place from 2 until 8 p.m. in the district’s boardroom.
School board candidates James Dillon and Karl Fetter each received 154 votes, NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank said. They tied for third place as Lisa Levinson received 189 votes and Jon Hunkins totaled 180 votes to earn seats on the board.
Both Dillon and Fetter have seats on the board, regardless of the special vote, with voters determining how long each member will serve.
The vote will be determined through a paper vote. An electronic vote was used for the May 16 budget and election vote.
“We expect a lesser turnout and this is more cost effective,” he said.
Fetter and Dillon will both be listed on the ballot and voters can vote for up to two candidates per voting regulations.
In the event of another tie, a second special election would be held, Cruikshank said.
The Board of Education next meets June 20.
