A Gold Key winner was 12th Grader Kayley Phillips with this work in the digital art category.

Norwood-Norfolk Central School has received the Central New York Scholastic Art District Recognition Award at a ceremony at Onondoga Community College in Syracuse.

The award is given annually to one district in the 13 participating counties

“This is an absolutely amazing award when you understand the level of this competition,” said N-N art teacher Jason Hubbard.

The competition has consistently attracted nearly 5,000 individual pieces of art a year, and more than 70 professional artists, educators and photographers select award winners.

Hubbard accepted the award for Norwood-Norfolk.

“Our students represented our district fantastically, taking home 4 Gold Keys, 3 Everson Awards, 8 Silver Keys, and 8 Honorable Mentions,” Hubbard said.

The four Gold Key winners are now advancing on to the national level Scholastic Art & Writing Award competition. The students' pieces will be displayed in the Everson Muesum.

The NNCS winners were:

Gold Keys: Danielle Linsky, Kayley Phillips, Jillian Todd, and Beau Catimon.

Silver Keys: Shannon Colbert (2), Madison Seguin, Emily Sullivan (2), Emily Thomas, Jillian Todd, and Jessica Fulk.

Everson Museum Award: Shannon Colbert (2) and Jillian Todd.

Honorable Mention: Shannon Colbert (2), Ashley Powell, Jillian Todd, Grace Vari, Kaitlyn Villnave, Leslie Jandreau, and Bryanna Pryce.
