NORWOOD -- Norwood-Norfolk Central School Board of Education candidate James P. Dillion says he wants to provide a safe and secure environment where children are only focused on learning, while challenging each child to their highest academic standard.
James P. Dillon, Norwood, is currently filling a one-year school board seat that was vacant.
“I would like to continue serving the Norwood community by filling a three-year seat that is coming available this year,” he said in a letter to North Country Now.
Jamie Cruikshank, superintendent at Norwood-Norfolk Central, says three seats are available in his district. The seats are held by James Dillon, George Fulk and Stephen Markum. Each seat is a three-year term.
Fulk is not seeking his seat again, according to school officials.
Also running for seats are Matthew Fiacco and Malcolm Fiacco.
Last year the Norwood-Norfolk School board put an ad in the paper looking to fill board member seats due to lack of interest in board positions.
Dillon decided to run last year, running unopposed winning a one-year seat.
“My goal is to give every child a learning classroom experience they would enjoy,” Dillon said. “I will do my best to accomplish all of the above while being fiscally responsible to the Norwood-Norfolk taxpayers. Please take into consideration that I have experience by being an active member on the board for the past year serving to the best of my ability.”
Dillon has children that attend NNCS.
The school board vote is planned May 15, at the Norwood Norfolk School from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. The budget will be voted on as well that night.
Dillon said anyone with concerns or questions can contact him at jdillon@nncsk12.org.
