Norwood moving ahead with township creation and expansion study

NORWOOD – Representative of the Center for Governmental Research (CGR) will be in Norwood April 19 to tour the village and meet local officials as the start of the study the village is performing to see if they can leave the Town of Potsdam, expand their boundaries, and form their own township.

CGR is the consultant group with expertise on dissolution issues that the village has engaged to aid them with the study. CGR was the consultant on Potsdam’s recent dissolution study.

At a meeting Monday, committee members reviewed email from CGR research associate Jill Symonds, who will visit the village April 19 along with her colleague Kent Gardner.

The committee also reviewed the project plan and the agreement between CGR and the village.

The CGR staffers plan to take a guided driving tour of the village when they visit and speak with community leaders from the village and nearby. That afternoon, they will meet with the whole committee where the CGR representatives will speak about the data collection process and distribute a sample report as an example of the information they are looking to collect.

The committee plans to meet on the first and third Mondays of each month. For May, that will be the 7th and the 21st; in June, the 4th and the 18th.

Members of the committee present Monday were Mayor Jim McFaddin, Sue Bancroft, Jim Besaw, Phil Regan, Howie Maroney, Cheryl Cole, Jane Mott, Matt Rollins, and Ann Watson.
