OSWEGATCHIE -- A 79-year-old Norwood man died from what appears to be a heart attack during a Wednesday duathlon in Ogdensburg.
St. Lawrence County Corner Kevin Crosby said he was waiting to release the name until his family was notified.
Crosby said the man died while riding his bicycle in the Hoswegatchie Duathlon. He said a passing state trooper tried to resuscitate the man, but was unsuccessful.
Crosby said the man had some medical history, but nothing out of the ordinary.
"He was not complaining of anything beforehand," he said. "He appeared to be all right prior to the race, according to his wife," he said.
The man was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, where he was pronounced dead.
Crosby said the cause of death has not been determined, but it appears to be a heart attack.
