NORWOOD -- Due to the death of Norwood Lake Association President James McFaddin earlier this year, the Norwood Lake Regatta will not be held this year.
The regatta is an event that sees snowmobiles travel at high speeds with highly skilled drivers who raced across the Norwood Lake.
The event had celebrated its 25th year last year.
Other than races, the event typically offered food, vendors and other entrainment making it a huge local event that drew competitors and spectators from around the country and Canada.
James McFaddin passed away May 19. He served as president of the Norwood Lake Association and was also the mayor.
In a letter to the editor to North Country This Week, Elaine Saarinen of the Norwood Lake Association, says they expect the regatta to return in 2016.
Last year the event raised $12,000 for the lake association to continue its effort to control Eurasian milfoil in Norwood Lake.
