NORWOOD -- The Norwood Lake Association held its annual dinner at the Norwood American Legion, Oct. 5 and elected officers for 2013-2014 year.

Election of officers resulted in Jim McFaddin re-elected as president, Josh Cook as 1st vice president, Larry Averill 2nd vice president, Elaine Saarinen re-elected secretary, and Elaine Perry re-elected treasurer. Secretary Saarinen spoke of some of the projects the Norwood Lake Association has funded to benefit our community.

Over $35,000 has been spent on projects at the boat launch, beach, historic “News Block” equipment for new municipal building kitchen, fish stocking, welcome to Norwood signs and the Norwood recycling center.

Recently $2,000 was spent to remove milfoil from the lake.

Treasurer Elaine Perry presented the annual finance report listing donations to many organizations as well as the several projects we fund. She stated our organization was in good financial condition. Much of our revenue is from the annual Norwood Lake Regatta which raised over $13,000 this year.

McFaddin gave a history of the Norwood Lake Association and responded to questions on milfoil recently found in Norwood Lake.

He explained short term the lake association would fund but additional partners were required long term to ensure the lake remained a valuable resource.
