NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series is looking to raise $1,475 to purchase lighting equipment through a new campaign on Adirondack Gives, Adirondack Foundation’s crowdfunding site for nonprofits, community groups and municipalities.

The project named “Let’s Complete Phase 2 of the Norwood Village Green Lighting Project aims to raise $1,475 by May 2 in order to purchase one Altman Spectra LED 100 lighting instrument, according to Joe Liotta, program director of the Norwood Village Green Concert Series.

Donations can be made to https://adirondackgives.org/campaigns/complete-phase-2-light-norwood-viillage-green-concert-series-lighting-project/ or simply adirondackgives.org.

The lighting project, which started last year, has been divided into two phases, Liotta said via email.

Phase one was completed in 2014. In that phase, $800 was raised via the Adirondack Gives program. Two DJ light trees, with 4 led lights each, were purchased with these funds. A grant from the Northern New York Community Foundation in the amount of $5,000 was also secured and four Altman Spectra LED 100s were purchased and installed. Both systems were integrated and used during the 2014 season.

During the fall of 2014, an individual donor provided funds for remote controls for the four lights purchased in 2014 and six more intended to be purchased in Phase 2 this year.

In Phase 2, the additional lights will be purchased and installed, and the entire project will be finished, he said.

All told, 18 separate but compatible lights will replace the 12 lights used on the Norwood Village Green Bandshell for the past 35 years. There will be enough lighting capabilities to light up and enhance many varied concerts and productions for decades to come, Liotta said.

The Norwood Village Green Concert Series, founded in 1974 will present its 42nd annual season in 2015. For the complete 2015 season schedule and other information visit nvgcs.org.
