POTSDAM -- Men from Canton and Norwood have been arrested and charged in a bar fight in Potsdam two weeks ago that resulted in injuries serious enough to put a man in the hospital.
The investigation by the Potsdam Police Department led to the arrest of Carlos E. Ferreras, 24, Canton, and Smith Charles, 26, Norwood. Both were charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony.
Police responded to a call for an ambulance June 10 at 2 a.m. to LaCasbah on Elm Street, where they found that a 24-year-old had head injuries including a laceration, broken nose, and loss of consciousness.
The victim was taken by the Potsdam Rescue Squad to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment.
Several witnesses identified the suspects to police as having punched and kicked the victim inside LaCasbah, according to police.
Both suspects were arraigned in Potsdam Village Court by Justice Pignone and released to the supervision of probation authorities.
They are due back in Village Court July 13.
