MASSENA – The 116th annual Northern New York Fireman’s Association Convention is under way and continues today and Saturday with meetings, awards and live entertainment.
The event, which draws firefighters from all over the region, began Thursday with a golf tournament at the Massena Country Club.
Friday, firefighters will attend a variety of meetings at the Louisville Town Hall. A lunch buffet will be served at 12 noon followed by a ceremony at the New Testament Church to honor the Fireman of the Year.
At 7 p.m. a social event will be held at the station. Food and beverages will be provided.
Saturday a parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Willard Road and conclude at the community center with a performance by the Norwood Brass.
A chicken barbecue will be held at 11 a.m. T-shirts and beer mugs will be available for purchase. Bed races will be held with a $5 entry per team of five.
The event closes with live entertainment from Six Foot Midget beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a fireworks display at dusk.
The event is open to firefighters throughout the northern New York region
