State Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, and area radio personality Melody Burns are looking for people to send holiday cards to soldiers.
The initiative—which is being organized through Albany’s Veterans Miracle Center—collects holiday cards signed by donors to distribute to members of the military at veterans’ hospitals, army installations and other places.
Guidelines
• Do not include envelopes
• Do not include personal letters, photos or inserts of any kind
• Include one’s name or one’s organization’s name and address with each bundle of cards
• Use generic salutations such as “Dear Service Member,” as cards addressed to specific people cannot be delivered through this program
• Avoid cards with glitter or using loose glitter as it can aggravate health issues
Once signed, cards must be sent or dropped off to Ritchie’s offices by Nov.16.
The address is 330 Ford St. basement, Ogdensburg, NY 13669
Ritchie’s 48th Senate District covers northern and western St. Lawrence County, including Ogdensburg, Canton and Gouverneur.
