North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Willsboro, has voted in support of the Women Airforce Service Pilot Arlington Inurnment Restoration Act.
Stefanik is an original cosponsor of this bipartisan legislation that would overturn a recent decision by the Secretary of the Army rescinding eligibility for burial of cremated remains for Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) pilots, which they have had since 2002.
Stefanik’s 21st Congressional District includes St. Lawrence, Franklin, Jefferson, Clinton, Essex, Fulton, Washington, Warren, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis and Saratoga counties.
“The brave women who stepped up to serve our nation during World War II deserve the respect of a grateful country,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “The WASP flew 60 million miles of operation flights on behalf in service to their nation, and I am proud to vote today to give these American trailblazers the honor they have earned.”
