CANTON -- In the spirit of the election year, North Country Public Radio is asking listeners and online audiences to vote for NCPR through donations at www.ncpr.org/give.
NCPR is an award-winning news organization that is providing regional as well as national election coverage as an NPR member station.
Nationally, NCPR continues to lead the public radio system with a fundraising campaign that leaves all regular programming intact, as there are no program interruptions during the three week drive.
Instead, the station airs brief reminders between programs and on social media.
“We believe the public media audience understands that individual contributions provide the single largest source of funding for our station,” said Station Manager Ellen Rocco.
“We do not have to browbeat and cajole listeners into contributing. We believe simple, straightforward reminders prompt people to make their gifts.”
This is the third year that NCPR has fundraised without interrupting programs.
To encourage donations, the station gives away a variety of gifts during the drive, drawing names from those people who are in touch with the station during the drive.
Those who make a gift or contact the station early are eligible for more drawings.
“This year, prizes include the iPad Air 2, Polaroid Camera, Bose Bluetooth headphones, Apple Watch, GoPro Hero 4 and some surprises,” said Membership Manager Monique Cornett.
