North Country Price Chopper stores join with American Red Cross to 'Give What Fire Takes'

This September Price Chopper stores in the North Country are joining with the American Red Cross to “Give What Fire Takes” through a month-long campaign.

Shoppers at Price Chopper stores in Canton, Potsdam, Massena, Ogdensburg, Gouverneur can join the effort to save lives, reduce injuries and cut down on needless losses from home fires by making donations to Red Cross Home Fire Relief at checkout through Sept. 30. Price Chopper will match all donations made during the month, up to $10,000.

“The Red Cross responds to more than 500 disasters in our region each year, and the vast majority of those are home fires,” said Gary Striar, CEO, American Red Cross Eastern New York Region. “The support we receive from Price Chopper and their customers this September will ensure that we can provide relief to fire victims all year long and keep working to reduce the number of fire-related losses we see in our community.”

“We’ve all heard stories of home loss due to fire on the news, and the Red Cross is usually included in those stories, as they come to the aid of the victims, providing shelter and assistance,” said Pam Cerrone, Price Chopper Manager of Community Relations. “Our involvement in the ‘Give What Fire Takes’ campaign promotes and raises awareness about the relief the Red Cross provides after a fire, and gives people an opportunity to support their efforts. We’re so pleased to be able to help an organization that helps so many.”

iHeartMedia has partnered with Price Chopper and the Red Cross to provide media support for this special campaign. In addition to encouraging radio audiences to “Give What Fire Takes” at Price Chopper/ stores throughout the month of September, iHeartMedia will also help to spread the word about free fire safety resources available through the Red Cross.

All gifts made to Red Cross Home Fire Relief through the Price Chopper “Give What Fire Takes” campaign will enable the Red Cross to provide critical services to people impacted by home fires, along with lifesaving tools and information to support home fire prevention efforts.
