North Country Matters ending fall season with look at '(Dis)Enfranchisment' conference

North Country Matters, the local public affairs video magazine produced by WCKN at Clarkson University, ends the fall season with a show that looks at a conference that will look at (Dis)Enfranchisement early in 2017.

SUNY Canton’s Emily Hamilton-Honey, one of the organizers of the February 2017 (Dis)Enfranchisement Conference, talks with NCM host Donna Seymour about the event. The 2-day conference on Feb. 10-11 will look at gender, voting, political, legal, and/or social (dis)enfranchisement via panels and presentations by community members and faculty and students at the four colleges.

The link for the show is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V5Hti0W5ts.

In addition, AAUW-St. Lawrence County will honor Emily Hamilton-Honey with this year’s AAUW Research Award recipient Nov. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at SUNY Canton AthleticCenter in the Roos House Mezzanine.

This is our fall membership meeting and everyone is invited for light refreshments and to hear from Emily about her research and some of the education and equity work AAUW is doing in the community.

The NCM civic partners working to educate North Country residents about critical public policy issues facing our region include AAUW-St. Lawrence County, the League of Women Voters of St. Lawrence County, and Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam Communication students, who provide the technical expertise and social media outreach for the production. The shows are filmed at the WCKN studio on the Clarkson campus.
