MASSENA -- The North Country Grown Cooperative, Inc. will receive $109,552 in funding from the USDA Rural Development program for training owners of small farm operations.
The NCGC, a Massena-based farmer-owned wholesale marketing cooperative, gives small local farms access to large institutional markets like the universities in Potsdam and Canton
“Technical assistance funded by USDA-RD is giving us the tools we need to significantly improve our on farm and collective operations and management and to improve our livelihoods.” Lynda Bage, owner and manager of Rivendale Farm.
Funding is provided through USDA’s Small Socially Disadvantaged Producer Grant program, which offers technical assistance to help producers develop new markets and grow their operations.
These funds will be used to provide training on peer-to-peer learning and business development practices.
